Modern Medicine-A Leading Cause Of Death

What is and where is the proof, you might ask. The studies and the proof have been there all along.

The basic groundwork in this understanding.
• Heart disease: 616,067
• Cancer: 562,875
• Cancer: 562,875
• Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 127,924
• Accidents (unintentional injuries): 123,706
• Alzheimer's disease: 74,632
• Diabetes: 71,382
• Influenza and Pneumonia: 52,717
• Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 46,448
• Septicemia: 34,828

Then we can go to the year 2000 study originally published in the AMA Journal itself, showing the effects of doctors and so called modern medicine, to be then the 3rd leading cause of death in the US.

The study and the numbers come right from the AMA Journal. Of course since 2000, they have made that abstract and the study a dead link on their site; imagine that. What did they have and decided they needed to hide??? To much truth?

Medical Errors - A Leading Cause of Death

The JOURNAL of the AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (JAMA) Vol 284, No 4, July 26th 2000 article written by Dr Barbara Starfield, MD, MPH, of the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, shows that medical errors may be the third leading cause of death in the United States.
However, we can clearly see what was in that study when we go here below to an interview with Dr Barbara Starfield.

MEDICALLY CAUSED DEATH IN AMERICA
On July 26, 2000, the US medical community received a titanic shock to the system, when one of its most respected and honored public-health experts, Dr. Barbara Starfield, revealed her findings on healthcare in America.

The landmark Starfield study, “Is US health really the best in the world?”, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, came to the following conclusions:

Every year in the US there are:
ALL THESE ARE DEATHS PER YEAR:
12,000 deaths from unnecessary surgeries;
7,000 deaths from medication errors in hospitals;
20,000 deaths from other errors in hospitals;
80,000 deaths from infections acquired in hospitals;
106,000 deaths from FDA-approved correctly prescribed medicines.
The total of medically-caused deaths in the US every year is 225,000.

Now look at your numbers, 225,000 fits right between, Heart disease: 616,067 Cancer; 562,875 Chronic; and Lower respiratory diseases: 127,924; making that, (by the study figures), the third leading cause of death in the US! Now, this is 2012; do you think those numbers have become worse, or better? Nothing has changed, nor promoted any change, so obviously it could not ever actually get better. And the FDA is still the corrupt revolving door with the pharma industry, that silences any whistle blowers, and they all know that their jobs depend on not being in disagreement and rocking that boat.

This makes the medical system in that year 2000, the third leading cause of death in the US, behind heart disease and cancer.

Now, lets go to another study in the year 2004, showing so called modern medicine to be the first and leading cause of death in the US! Take a look at the numbers.

Modern Health Care System is the Leading Cause of Death, Part I, Jul 7, 2004

Excerpts: One of the most prominent articles on this site is Doctors are the Third Leading Cause of Death . Well that article was written in 2000 and now it appears that, based on a variety of references noted in the below article, some from prior to 2000 some after, the conventional medical system in fact the LEADING cause of death in this country. Not heart disease, not cancer--doctors. In all fairness, doctors themselves are not to blame for all of this. The entire modern health care system, however, is responsible for allowing, even promoting, so many unnecessary procedures, drugs and mishaps. This illustrates precisely why the system is so desperately in need of change, and why facilitating this change is, and will continue to be, such a substantial portion of my vision.

A definitive review and close reading of medical peer-review journals, and government health statistics shows that American medicine frequently causes more harm than good. The number of people having in-hospital, adverse drug reactions (ADR) to prescribed medicine is 2.2 million. 1 Dr. Richard Besser, of the CDC, in 1995, said the number of unnecessary antibiotics prescribed annually for viral infections was 20 million. Dr. Besser, in 2003, now refers to tens of millions of unnecessary antibiotics. 2, 2a

The number of unnecessary medical and surgical procedures performed annually is 7.5 million. 3 The number of people exposed to unnecessary hospitalization annually is 8.9 million. 4 The total number of iatrogenic [induced inadvertently by a physician or surgeon or by medical treatment or diagnostic procedures] deaths shown in the following table is 783,936.

It is evident that the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury in the United States. The 2001 heart disease annual death rate is 699,697; the annual cancer death rate, 553,251. 5

Check out the graph on the site page referenced:
Adverse Drug Reactions 106,000
Medical error 98,000
Bedsores 115,000
Infection 88,000
Malnutrition 108,800
Outpatients 199,000
Unnecessary Procedures 37,136
Surgery-Related 32,000
TOTAL 783,936 (cost) $282 billion

Now, remember this number from above? Heart disease: 616,067
We could have an even higher death rate by using Dr. Lucien Leape's 1997 medical and drug error rate of 3 million. 14 Multiplied by the fatality rate of 14 percent (that Leape used in 1994 16 we arrive at an annual death rate of 420,000 for drug errors and medical errors combined. If we put this number in place of Lazorou's 106,000 drug errors and the Institute of Medicine's (IOM) 98,000 medical errors, we could add another 216,000 deaths making a total of 999,936 deaths annually.

These articles below as well show that the real numbers are likely to be MUCH higher than being the third leading cause!
